Bioplastic diploma Masters project : SEED LAB
SEED LAB is a fictional brand that I created for my final year in my masters as my diploma project.
This is Seed Lab, a lab that researches biodegradable bioplastic material. The material integrates seeds which are part of the aesthetic of the brand but also the goal and purpose of the objects designed out of the bioplastic. The material is meant to biodegrade within 4 months and ideally the seeds would be conserved within the plastic and then released once degraded into the soil. The concept is to create temporary objects that come in the form of accessories, bags, headwear and more. The objects are worn for a short time and slowly as they are used they increasingly start to become less strong and deteriorate.
Once the object becomes used usually around 4 months, it has run its course as an accessory and can be buried in the soil where it will decompose fully and be given a new life as a plant or flower. After full degradation, the seeds should be able to germinate and the accessory will turn into a plant that has a new life which can forever be recycled, for example black eyed Susans which is a flower that Is integrated within the material have seeds which come out of the bud. Which you can collect again and reuse to make new material.
GRAD SHOW
The grad show took place in may 2022 in Geneva at the HEAD school campus. Below are the photos of my final project set up in the space. It is meant to be a "pop up" shop with bright fun colours.
Photography
The process was extremely long, below I will show you all the different bioplastics I made through photography and the results. I will also show the final finished objects I created with my plastic.
