Women at Cern

This project was created in my first year of my masters during a workshop led by the METAHAVEN design group.

What is the purpose of this campaign?

This is a fake campaign created to spread awareness about the disparity of numbers between genders at the CERN but also in science in general. The numbers and stats are from 2019, and are meant to shock but also invite the viewers to understand the numbers and how it is important to be aware about this subject. I chose to use the phrase “science not silence” to merge all the 3 posters together by this bonding phrase. This phrase talks about how we should not silence women and ignore their achievments in this field. The scientific world is one of recognition and women are often put aside and neglected when it comes to recognition. The aim of “science not silence” is to speak up and look at the facts for what they are. That is why I decided to take the data on gender and their staff for 2019 at the CERN and acknowledge women’s contribution. I chose the style of infographic posters to on one hand stick to the information and the “science” behind it. Stick to the raw facts: sometimes this is the most effective way to get a point across. I want women to be recognized locally for the work they are doing, not by comparing them to men but to just rep-resent the reality of the situation.   This is the real deal, the real numbers and the real stats.
