VISIONS Of pastry

Book cover design

This is my final design for a brief I found online. The task was to design a book cover for a cookbook named 'Visions of Pastry' by Mark Wilson. The design inspiration behind my work is to use the classic danish still art which reminds me of home comfort and baking. I used a very minimal style as I believe the art is what creates the warmth.

RECYCLED Objects

Guidebook on how to shop sustainably

This project was part of my university degree. I handed this in as part of a publishing brief.  I was inspired by a mall in Sweden which sells recycled objects that are redesigned and furnished. I thought it would be a good idea to create a guidebook in which people can find places to shop sustainably and contribute to helping the environment in a small way.

Below are all the final mockups of the finished guidebook. As for the design inspiration, I used collage and colours to create a vibrant layout similar to the cubists.

Development

Here are some alternative final outcomes that I was working with. Playing with colour and text was the main idea behind this project and was inspired by Hannah Hoch's work which I thought had a recycling feel to it.

The Establishment

Penguin Book Cover Design

Penguin launched a design award earlier this year and these were my two final outcomes.

This first one I chose to use darkness and symbolising the lives of people living under the Establishment. I used simplicity to get the message across clear and cold.

The second one required more work, I drew the illustration with the map and hand and proceeded to scan it onto illustrator and animate it slightly more. I think the pop of colour goes well with the Penguin company and adds a contrast with the black.

Guidebook: Prague's communist Era Buildings

Guidebook

As part of our degree, we went on a school trip to Prague and the brief was to design something in relation to Prague. As i am a big history lover, I decided to explore Prague's communist past and decided to design a guidebook of all the places to visit. I enjoyed doing this project most. It was super intriguing and going and doing the groundwork and taking photos myself is what made it even better. This guidebook consists of many different layouts which were mainly inspired by the dark communist colours.

Final outcomes and mockups of different layouts from the guidebook.

I decided to make it a pocket book guide which I found would be easier to hold and carry around the city. Here are some photos I took showing the guidebook size and in context.
